Jackie's Ramblings & Rants!

Welcome To My Little Book Corner

Here is where I store and share all of my thoughts about books. You can find everything to rants, reviews, thoughts, and more. I take every review seriously. I love writing reviews. They are a way for me to keep track of the books I have read, and what I thought about them. I love to read other people's reviews. They help me find great books. It doesn't matter if it is a 1 star review, or a 5 star review, I find them all helpful. However, I don't let reviews decide the way I feel about a book before I read it. I just take in mind what other people liked or didn't like about a book. I am glad to share my love of books with others!

Blood Slaves (The Daughters of Darkness #1)

Wow what a book!

From the first chapter, I was hooked! This book is full of action, and awesome characters. I kind of want to read it all over again, even though I just finished reading it!

Blake is one bad ass. I really loved her personality.
The fact that she is half demon, made the book even better! I love the fact that she will let everyone know who was boss, and she wasn't afraid to challenge them.

I was absolutely obsessed with Eli. He is a match for Blake. He is so powerful. He took over his rightful place as king, with in a matter of minutes. I really loved reading the relationship between him and Blake. I thought it was so sweet.

I liked all of the characters in this book. They were so badd ass!! I really enjoyed the plot and story line of this book. All of the twist and turns really kept me on my toes. I want more!

This was a very quick and steamy book. I absolutely loved Laurens story! I would love to have one night with someone I only know as master lol! Her story was so exciting and different! The author did a really good job with this story.

I really liked that the person she knew as master was actually her husband. I thought that was a really cool twist to the book.

I really like Amy and Mac story. Amy needed a dominant in her life, and Mac was willing to give it to her. However, the only thing I really didn't like as, Mac did not know a lot about the BDSM world, but he was a pro. It wasn't really realistic.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I was hooked from the beginning to the and. This is my first book that I have read by this author, but I would love to read more! I definitely recommend this book. Thumbs up to the author!!

Caribou Crossing (A Caribou Crossing Romance)

Caribou Crossing: A Caribou Crossing Romance - Susan Fox To read more reviews like this one, follow me on my blog. http://fireandicebookreviews.blogspot.com/2014/05/caribou-crossing-caribou-crossing-1-by.html

3.5 stars.

Caribou Crossing was an okay read for me.

I liked that it was about the life of a married couple. Most romance books only show the happily ever after . They never show life after marriage. I thought it was clever of the author to show what the family went through. The couple were happy to have another baby. When they had a miscarriage, instead of that bringing them closer, it drew them apart.

What I really didn't like, was the back and forth through the present and the past. Sometimes it was confusing, and in others it was pointless. At some pints in the book it was hard to get through. It is never good when you put a book down, and you don't really want to finish. I thought the book was dragged out. It seemed like the author was trying to add content to fill the pages. That is just how I saw it.

I also liked their daughter and her friend. I knew they were going to have a book of their own. I am excited to read it! The daughter Jessica, was obsessed with horses. I really liked her friend. They were perfect for each other even at a young age.

This book was so realistic, and for that, I gave it 3.5 stars.

Gimme Some Sugar (A Pine Mountain Novel)

Gimme Some Sugar - Kimberly Kincaid I absolutely adored this book!

I have not read book one, but I will definitely be going back to read it. I love the town, I love the characters, and overall I just love the flow of this book! This is my first time reading a book by Kimberly Kincaid, But I am so excited to read more!

This book was sweet, funny, and heartwarming. I really loved Carly and Jackson by themselves, but together they were so cute. I love reading romance, and watching them fall in love with each other was beautiful! I thought they were perfect for each other. I was hooked from start to finish.

The author has whipped up a sweet love story that I just can't get enough of! This is one of those books that you take to the beach or the pool with you when you want to relax, and loose yourself in a great story. All of the food and recipes that were in this book made me wish I was there!

I am going to Pine Mountain, who would like to go with me? Pick a copy of this book up! It is a nice heart warming read!

Heat: Club Inferno; A Loveswept Contemporary Erotic Romance

Heat: A Loveswept Contemporary Erotic Romance - Jamie K. Schmidt 3.5 stars.

Most books fall into 3 categories for me. A hit, almost there, and a miss. Heat was a miss for me. However, it did have some almost there qualities. This book was not what I was expecting.

Lets start with the good stuff. I really loved the plot of this book. Fashion and BDSM all under one roof... love it! I though it was really cool how the author mixed the two. I absolutely fell in love with the creativeness behind this book. While I was reading, I wished I could go, or just find a place just like it!

The romance between Max and Mallory was cute, and the sexy scenes were steamy! I really liked that Max ignored Mallory's sister, and dated Mallory anyways. I really loved all of the cute little things he did for Mallory.

The thought behind the whole book was good, but it could have been better. I couldn't connect with the characters. It could use some more work. Max was a Dom, but we never really saw his dominant side. Couture had a lot of BDSM parties , but I wish we would have actually had some BDSM scenes. Mallory was an okay character. I thought she was trying a little to hard to fit into the BDSM world.

I gave this book 3.5 stars. While I liked Couture, and all of the romantic things Max did for Mallory, I just wish there was more.

Conduit

Conduit is one of those books that will grip you from page one, and have you thinking about it even when it is over. This is the first book that I have read by Angie Martin, but I must read more.

Conduit reminds me of a roller coaster ride. This book starts out by building the reader up with well needed information. Martin starts out with a mind blowing pro-log; that leads into a book that you will never forget.

The best part of a roller coaster ride, is when you don't know what is coming next. This book will keep you guessing on what will happen next. The twist and turns through out this book is perfect. I was so rapped up into the world that Martin creates. It was so hard to put it down. Now you know a book is good when you dream about it!

Martin has created amazing characters. I have 100% respect for Emily. She is a Strong female character that you just have to love. Martin dives right into Emily's mind, and David the killers mind. David is a creepy character, but it was interesting to see inside his head. Emily is a type of psychic that I have never scene in a book before. I would love to see more psychics like this!

The best part of any roller coaster ride is the drop. Martin takes us through a world wind of details that leads up to a breath taking drop. During this free fall everything unfolds. Martin brings a lot to the table. The events in the book will keep you on the edge of your seat.

After it is all over you are left gasping for breath, and wanting to read it again. Martin leaves you wanting more and more. This is a well written book, and I am so excited to see what is next from Angie Martin!! Thanks for this wild roller coaster ride Angie!!

Before We Kiss

Before We Kiss - Susan Mallery Review to come closer to release date!

Just One Night: Sex, Love & Stiletto Series

Just One Night - Lauren Layne You can find this review, and more on http://fireandicebookreviews.blogspot.com/

I absolutely love this series. This is the Third book I have read by Lauren Layne, and I have rated all three five stars. This series is a must read for all romance fanatics!

Julie and Grace receives their happy ever after. Now it is time for Riley. I have been team Riley since the first book. In the other books Riley is scene as sexy and classy. This time we get to actually see what she is all about.

If you have followed this series, then you know that Riley is the magazines sex goddest. In the other books Riley has always been seen as the sexy, beautiful, confident one. However, all of the girls receives an assignment where they have to talk about the person behind the article.

However, Riley can't talk about the person behind the article because her sex life itsn't as hot as it seems. This is where her long time childhood crush, and best friend, steps into the picture. I really liked Sam from the beginning. You could really tell he was head over hills for Riley. He is one of those type of guys that will do anything for someone, even if that means he will get hurt in the cross fire.

Sam and Riley were perfect together. Layne has created a sexy, but sweet book that I just can't get enough of. I love the fact that all of the books are based around magazine articles that the girls have to write. It's sexy, funny, and romanic all in one package. How can you go wrong?

I am so excited to see what is next from Lauren Layne! I hope it's Emma's story!!

When We Met

Evening Stars (Blackberry Island Novels)

Evening Stars - Susan Mallery Review Posted On Fire & Ice Book Reviews.
http://fireandicebookreviews.blogspot.com/2014/03/evening-stars-blackberry-island-3-my.html

This is book 3 in the Black Berry Island series. I was excited when I saw this book on NetGalley. I have read book one and two, and loved them both. This time we get to read about Nina.

I rated this book 4 stars because something was missing. When I finished reading the book I felt incomplete. I thought something else should have been added to the book. All through out the book everyone had some type of problem, and just out of the blue everything was perfect. I thought the ending could have been rapped up a little better.

Now on to the good stuff! I thought the romance between Nina and Kyle was cute... but he was a bit to excited to see Nina. "Hey, Nina." The voice was low and sexy, but not the least bit familiar. "Who are you?" "You don't remember?" "No, she didn't and he was still holding her. She struggled a bit, and he quickly set her on her feet. She swayed as she found her balance, and was about to take a step back when he put his hands on her waist, drew her against him and kissed her. Just like that. If you would like to know what happened after that... well you should read the book!

I thought it was funny when he reminded her about the crush he had on her, when she use to babysit his sister. "I'm Kyle Eastland. The last time I saw you, I was twelve years old. It was August. A Tuesday. You were so beautiful." um... can you say stalker!

Even though Kyle is a bit stalkerish, I really liked his character. However, I liked Dylan even better. Dylan is an awesome character. He told Nina exactly what he wanted, and he went for it. Kyle jumped head first, and Dylan took his time. I liked both characters. It was hard to choose who I liked better, but Dylan won. Dylan was just one of those really sweet type of guys. Nina was sick, and he took care of her. Not a lot of guys would do that.Nina was one lucky girl!

Okay, at the beginning I did not like Bonnie, Nina's mom. She was so selfish, and she reminded me of a child. She treated her children like they were the parents, and she was the child. After a while she grew on me, and I actually began to like her.

Miss Mallery has written a captivating book with awesome characters. The plot and flow of this book was really good. There were a few slow moments in this book, but nothing I couldn't handle!
Over all I really enjoyed this book, and I am excited to see what is next for this series! I highly recommend this book!

Dwellers of Darkness (Darkness Series Book 3)

Dwellers of Darkness - Stacey Marie Brown 5 stars to Stacey Marie Brown!

I love returning to the world of Eli and Ember! Out of all three books, I think this book is my favorite. Miss Brown has written another five star book. It was hard to put this book down. I was addicted to the story line, and solid characters.

Dwellers of Darkness picks up where book two Fire in the darkness leaves off. Ember returns from the other side with her mother, Kennedy, and two pixies in toe. It is now three years later, and Eli is different. I was sure that the sexual chemistry between Ember and Eli was gone, but thankfully Miss Brown did not put us through that torture!

Those of you that are addicted to love triangles would be proud. Ember has to choose between the oh so sexy bad boy Eli, and the sweet and protective Torin. Ember has to choose between her heart and her bond. What would you choose?

I really loved all of the twist and turns in the book. It really kept me on the edge of my seat. Some parts of the book I just wanted to bang my head in a wall that is just how crazy it was. Whenever I was sure something was going to happen, Miss Brown switches it up on us. I love reading books that keeps me guessing!

Eli is one of those characters that you just have to fan girl over. He is just so sexy. Ember keep a tight hold on him, because I am sure there is a lot of girls out there who wants him! Eli is one of those frustrating guys that you just can't get enough of. He will go to hell and back for Ember, and that is just so sweet.

There are so many secrets between all of the characters in this book. Okay, lets be honest I hate Josh. I saw right through all of his BS. Something was just to fishy from the beginning. with him. The fight between light and darkness is just going to be amazing. I really hope the queen dies.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series! Please make sure you read this entire series, It is awesome!

Romancing The Bookworm is a nice pool/ beach side read. The plot of the book is based around the beach, and a surfing event. I liked the fluffiness of the book. It was something I could pick up and read when I wanted something light to read.

The characters of this book were college students. I thought it was cool that one of the main characters in this book was a bookworm. I love that the author reference everything that the main character said to a book she read!!

This book has a great plot, and characters. The characters felt so real. I actually wanted to join the characters on the beach. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a great beach or pool side read!!!

Haunted: A Novel

Haunted - Chuck Palahniuk WTF... This was recommended to me by a friend that usually has really good taste in books, but he really dropped the ball on this one.

What the hell did I read? I will never forget the content in this book.

Thanks friend for recommending this fucked up book!

Under the Moon

Loved it!!

I have read books in the past that made me shed a tear, but not like this one. Selena is one of those characters that you just have to love! The author has created a character that is caring and responsible.

I adored the relationship between Selena and Keenan. Keenan was Selena's rock, and she his. I loved the deep connection that they had with each other. They knew each others pain, and they dealt with it every day. I thought it was neat the way they met each other.

Selena works at a hospital, where she became really good friends with a cancer patient by the name of Grace. I absolutely love Grace. She is a picture of how everyone should be. Although she knows she is going to die, she doesn't let that hold her back from being who she is, and having fun! No one knows when they are going to actually die, but Grace knows that she isn't going to just sit around and cry about it. I wish I could be just like Grace! She is someone to look up to! I loved Grace's bucket list!! She had some pretty cool things on there!

Okay, time to fan girl here!!! Aw Keenan is so sweet!! He is one of those poettic type guys, and you just have to love him. All of the sweet things he did for Selena, and all of the sweet poems were so cute! Selena watch out he is mine!!!!

Like Selena, Keenan is dealing with a similar life changing problem. Selena and Keenan both blame themselves for something that could have happened regardless. I cried for these characters as if I actually knew them.

I cried the most because of Selena's family. The entire family was hurting, and when they needed each other the most, they forgot the meaning of family. Selena is 21, and she had to take care of her mom and her younger brother.

I gave this book five stars because the characters and the plot of this book was so amazing! The characters seemed so real. The story line of this book was perfect! There is a little of everything in this book. Romance, love, anger, heart ache, sadness, happiness, it is all here! Give this book a read! It is going on my favorites list!!
